Flynn --
In the distance a few faint barks of dogs could be heard. The sound mingled with the chirps of birds ahead of him. The forest lay wide open and vast almost beckoning him to run to it and see what was hidden in its depths. For the past few weeks he had found him at this spot just before the forest. Just the other day he had had an unsavory encounter with a wolf and another dog. Any dog that would see him there would probably wonder why he was so close to the Wilderness.
He had slipped under the fence to the dog park and was now sitting in front of the forest with his ears perked up and his jaw set. It had possibly been hours since he first sat down, and no one had noticed him yet. Even now he could see that the sky was beginning to darken. Still he wanted to figure out what he was about to do, what he would do with the rest of his life. For so long he had been longing to leave the Kaell pack and join Kalani. I need to hurry and make a decision. He chided to himself, though he knew they were empty words. He would never make a decision and always be a half hearted member of Kaell. That was probably how it was going to go down. Though he couldn't see any reason for him to stay except pure loyality; since this was the pack his mother had joined and died for.
Then he moved his ears forward for a second. I'm going to leave. he told himself again and stood up trying to prove his point. Though his leg was shaking when he put it forward to take a step. Taking another breathe he tried to calm his nerves... But he could smell a scent on the wind... a dog scent. Some one was near by, or watching him possibly. He twirled around and raised the fur on his hackles as a warning. He was so flustered that he couldn't identify the scent so he just stood there waiting for the dog to come closer. "Who's out there!" His tone was menacing. Maybe he shouldn't have been so angry, but last time some one had snuck up on him it had ended badly.

The day was beautiful... earlier on. The sky was a light, baby blue and weightless, fluffy white clouds floated across the sky overhead. However, as time passed and the young Australian Cattle dog continued on her lone patrol, the temperatures had dropped from sizzling and was now a light breeze. Dark grey clouds, the color of the faded pavement of the roads in the streets, covered the sky. It didn't take a genius to know that they were full of rain, and there would be a violent storm that would soon release it's wrath on the city. However, Five was too far out to turn back now, and it didn't matter anyway. She would be able to get back to their camp soon enough. Surely Five wouldn't have to warn her members of the storm and to take shelter, unless it got very bad, which is very possible. However, Five wasn't counting on that.
There was something else, as well. Five smelled a familiar scent ahead of her, though it was dangerously close to the Kalani pack border. Could one of her members be tresspassing onto other pack territory? Associating with one of the strange Kalani pack members? There was only one way to find out, so she trekked onwards. Her dark paws fell gently on the ground, making sure to be quiet. Behind her, her thick tail, which was colored dark grey with mixtures of black a white, was raised high to show her dominance. The dog would definitely know that he or she was speaking to one of high authority. Five was fearless as she continued on. That's the way she's always been, fearless and strong. It's gotten her into trouble before, it'll get her into trouble again. However, it was just her, nothing to change about it.
A gentle breeze ruffled the thick fur of Five's outer layer of fur, but it also blew her scent straight to the stranger that may or may not have been apart of Kaell pack. My cover's blown now, she thought to herself, stating the obvious silently to herself. Well, here goes! She went alongside the fence that surrounded the dog park, which kept all unwanted visitors away from the old abandoned site, and slipped beneath the hole that some dog had created long ago. When she let her honey golden eyes raise up to look ahead of her, she saw who exactly it was that she was dealing with. Flynn. The young Koolie had always been away from the heart of the pack, which is why she hardly knew anything about him. The thought made her feel like a bad leader, not knowing all of her members, but at least she knew his name. Looks like she would be learning more about him today.
"Who's out there!?" she heard him growl, aggression and malice in his voice. This was out of character, from what she'd seen, but yet again she had never really come to know Flynn very well at all. However, the statement did irritate Five immediately. "Oh, just your leader." she grumbled irritably, trying to see through it and see eye to eye with him. He didn't know it was her, his aggression would shrink. Or at least, it should, or else there might be issues between them. Five hated being disrespected, but she didn't think it would be a problem. She continued towards him, walking at a decent pace until she was about three feet in front of him. Then, she rolled back onto her grey toned haunches and just looked towards him.
"What're you doing all the way out here? I know that you're aware that that's Kalani territory. You're awfully close." she raised one tan colored eyebrow, her golden gaze staring at him, looking him up and down once before settling her gaze on his eyes. "Do you have any 'friends' down here? Trying to betray Kaell pack? 'Cause you know where those who betray us go. Straight to omega, or straight out of the pack to fend for themselves." Five raised one of her tan stained paws, licking it quickly before putting it back on the ground and narrowing her eyes. "Explain yourself." |

Flynn -- The air around him felt cold. It was tense, and he waited for the stranger to introduce them self. “oh just your leader.” He heard the fae speak irritably. Flynn let his fur lay flat once again. Five. The alpha had only recently been appointed to the position. He wasn't sure what he thought of her, since the Kaell pack was still scattered and he hardly ever saw her. From the few rumors he had heard others say, she was tough and had a bad temper. He didn't know how true those were but she seemed like she was the serious type. Finally an alpha that takes their job seriously, With any luck it was just what the Kaell pack needed.
"What're you doing all the way out here? I know that you're aware that that's Kalani territory. You're awfully close." He snorted when he heard her response. Already starting to take control of every aspect of their lives already? Sure she was alpha and had the right to know what he was doing all the way out here, but he didn't like the tone in her voice. He calmed himself as best he could, before he answered her. Just because he thought she was slightly annoying didn't mean he should disrespect the alpha. “Hunting. Getting food to feed your pack.” He stated coldly, not allowing an other emotion to line his tone.
She looked over him with a zealous gaze. "Do you have any 'friends' down here? Trying to betray Kaell pack? 'Cause you know where those who betray us go. Straight to omega, or straight out of the pack to fend for themselves." Very blunt and straight to the point. He could admire that, but for the moment it annoyed him. He was still so flustered that some one had found him, and the alpha none the less. He also had been planning on leaving so he felt more defensive then usual. No one usually paid attention to him, and he never tried to attract attention, so this 'interrogation' was picking at every last one of his nerves.
“I have no friends in the Kalani pack,” At least that was true, “And I am not planning on betraying the pack... Alpha.” The last word rolled out of his mouth in a venomous way. Some how it had slipped out. Still he held his head and ears high, but he didn't raise his tail at all so that he wouldn't offend her. “I have the right to look around for other places to hunt.” A shiver ran down him after he had finished. He didn't want to cause trouble, but he didn't like her.
Out of the corner of his eye he could see clouds beginning to cover the sky. He kept his gaze trained on her, but he was surprised he hadn't noticed the clouds before. Hopefully this would be over and done with soon, he didn't want to be caught in the rain. Though he wasn't sure how persistent she would be with the questioning.

Five kept her gaze stern, her light honey golden eyes staring into his, her tail raised off the ground to show authority even while she was on her hindquarters, resting her rump on the soft green grass. She was still leader and still had to make sure that whatever she was accusing Flynn of was wrong. This is one of the only times that Five would be glad to be wrong. Usually, Five was always wanting to be right and would never accept the fact that she's wrong. But making the accusations, she wanted them to be false, because if they were true that would mean that she might be losing her only hunter, and a dog that she would never come to know. And, by the looks of it, he'd head straight on over to Kalani pack, Kaell's rival. There was no way the young, determined Australian Cattle dog would let that happen. No way she would let Flynn mingle with those wolves.
Five never liked wolves. She'd gotten into a few scuffles with them, a few which she only survived because of her siblings that were there to help her. Three and One had been the ones to stay with her, while Two and Four had gone different ways. Three had been the one that Five was closest too, her shy and laid back brother. However, they had split a while ago, as One, the rebel who really loved to get into trouble, had convinced Three it was best to leave after Five suggested joining Kaell. This was before she was appointed alpha and since the disappearance of Three and One, she'd been more focused on her duties. But that was besides the point.
Five's eyes glanced up, leaving those of Flynn's to get a visual of what the clouds were looking like. As they got closer, they seemed to be getting darker, in some areas so dark grey that it could almost be black. It was definitely going to be a fierce storm, hopefully this wouldn't take long and Five could get everyone into the Town Square at the very least. But for now, she had Flynn to deal with. And on that note, she turned her stern gaze back to the young Koolie and perked her ears. "Hunting. Getting food for your pack." The words, which were spoken cooly, almost as if he wanted to irritate her, slid right off of Five. Before he could speak again, she nodded her head, raising an eyebrow sarcastically. "Uh huh. Because hunting right on the edge of the woods is a good place to hunt. And prey is so plentiful here in the dog park." She shook her head, feeling that there was still something missing.
"I have no friends in the Kalani pack. And I am not planning on betraying the pack... Alpha. I have the right to look around for other places to hunt." Five was good and listened to his words, but she didn't buy them. It wasn't very believable that this would be a new hunting spot. The dog park was usually pretty bare, except for maybe a few birds. However, it was mostly wide, open land until the forest. There was a missing piece to the puzzle that Five was trying to get out of Flynn. She did doubt that she would get it, though. It wasn't likely, though she wasn't done with her questioning yet. It was on, now. And there was one other thing that struck her as well, the part where he coldly called her Alpha. She knew it was meant to get to her, which she tried not to let it get to her and was mainly successful. However, it did make her think a minute. Was she being a bad alpha by questioning her member? Would this make things bad between her and Flynn? It doesn't matter, I'm going to win. she thought to herself, even though there was nothing to win.
"You're not swaying me, Flynn." she put emphasis on his name, just like he did when he said alpha. "You and I both know this isn't a good place to hunt. And I'd be really happy if you'd tell me the real reason for why your out here. Are you just thinking about things or what? 'Cause I honestly don't care if you're out here, as long as you're not doing anything bad." she told him, her voice stern and almost lecturing. Perhaps taking a different approach would get something out of him. Only time would tell.

Flynn --
Flynn tensed slightly as he stared straight into Five's eyes. He had never felt so irritated by a dog before, or so eager to rebel. Usually he didn't allow himself to feel such things, even though his temper did get away from him some times. Five was a very demanding alpha, compared to the last one. That was a good quality, but it had come to soon for him, he would have rather of had her come later ocne he had finally left and joined Kalani. He had never felt like this since he had been in Hawk's pack, which was a bad thing. He had lost himself while in that wretched pack.
The clouds over head darkened, he could feel a cold breeze ruffle his fur slightly. It seemed that a storm was evident, but he wasn't sure just how big it was. His pelt darkened to pitch black as the clouds blotted out the sun, making it harder to see what expression he was making. Though under the black his brow was sinking even lower, not just from Five's interrogation, but from the storm that was coming threateningly closer to the town.
Five's voice grated on his ears. She had obviously been slightly annoyed by his tone of voice, particularly his use of her rank. He wasn't fond of higher ranking dogs that enforced their power onto everyone. She seemed determined to understand what exactly he had been doing out of the fence to the dog park. It was like he was on a leash that he couldn't break free of. He had experience that before, and had never thought of the Kaell pack like that until this conversation. It only deepened his longing to leave the Kaell once and for all. Besides if I can stop this war between the wolves and dogs then I'll be helping the Kaell pack in general. Though he kept his radical thoughts to himself.
He relaxed his stance a little. He might be able to act his way out of this. She didn't know anything about his past, and he might be able to use that to his advantage. “To be honest...” He broke his gaze on her and glanced behind him at the forest for a second, “I saw a figure in the forest, it didn't look like a wolf... It might have been my sister.” That was a lie of course. His sister had been dead for at least two years. Others might find it insensitive to lie about someone he was close to. Flynn had lost that sense though and his sisters death was insignificant to him now... At least that was what he kept telling himself. “I would never do anything to harm this pack.” He tried to take his mind off of his sister. Though the statement was more to prove his point that he didn't want to hurt Kaell. His head lowered and his legs tensed again as he stared right into her eyes, “I understand that you want to assert your dominance on us now, but you should know that I would never hurt Kaell, you have my word.” That might have taken it a little to far, which he realized after he had said it. Though he still stood firm. He was still having trouble with deciding when to draw the line.

Five's honey golden eyes stayed locked on Flynn, glancing once at the dark grey sky, just threatening to release a raging storm on the whole city. She wasn't aware of the danger it would bring, she only knew that the pack would need to be in shelter when it started raining. Storms were only one of the cons of summer and honestly Five liked the rain. The silence that it brought, except for the gentle pitter patter of the raindrops, was beautiful. The bright flashes of lightning that lit up the sky mesmerized the young female, who's A.D.D distracted her from lots of things. Aside from that, Five also glanced behind Flynn once to stare into the forest. She let her mind wander to the Kalani pack, trying to see it from a different view than her own.
Why would Flynn want to leave Kaell? Well, she honestly couldn't really say that he wanted to leave. She was just accusing him, which was something she definitely shouldn't have done, considering she was alpha. Did questioning him so consistently about crazy things like leaving the pack make her a bad alpha? If Flynn did want to leave Kaell, which was a small possibility, would he be happier in Kaell? Would the less-demanding alpha make him happier? Would the ways of living with those dreaded wolves make him like Kalani better? Her mind, which was usually running all over the place, wandered to what the wolves were like. Big, a lot bigger than Five herself, and furry. When it rained, they smelled terrible. Their fur was so thick, Five knew it was probably miserable after it rained for them. And their teeth, huge and ferocious. They could easily be used to bite and kill. She could just see one, ripping into one's neck and ripping. The gore was almost too much for Five to bare, so she let it slip her mind and perked her ears to listen to Flynn.
"To be honest, I saw a figure in the forest. It might have been my sister." Flynn broke her gaze, staring into the forest and then to his paws in attempt to make it sympathetic. It worked, too, because Five softened up a bit, though not enough for him to know. This was because Five had her own siblings, ones that she hadn't seen in three years, not since she was four months old. They had been her best friends, the only ones she could depend on since her parents really had felt no connection to their puppies. Did Flynn have siblings like this? Siblings that he hadn't seen in years and was desperate to find? It didn't occur to her one bit that he might even be lying. No, Five, being sensitive to the subject of siblings, took him dead serious. She pulled her tail around her rump and let it settle beside her right leg.
He then spoke about how he would never hurt Kaell, how she had his word. Now, reguardless of what Flynn had in mind and reguardless of whether or not he was telling the dead truth, Five was serious about promises. Therefore, she noted mentally that she should never have problems with him. If he was going to be good and loyal to Kaell, they shouldn't have a problem. "Oh, a sibling huh? As long as you didn't cross the border, I trust you didn't." she let her gaze find his once more, softened but still stern. "And if that's the case, we shoudn't have a problem. Loyalty is something I expect from every Kaell member and I expect it from my one and only hunter as well." She made sure that it was clear to him that he was stuck to his word now, and Five would have a close eye on him for a while. But she let herself pause before speaking again, furrowing her tan colored brows as she heard his last part about asserting her dominance. "Asserting my dominance? I'm merely getting everyone prepared for that big storm headed our way and you were staring out at Kalani pack! How do I not assert my dominance?" |
She took a deep breath, letting herself calm before she looked back up at Flynn, shaking her head. The part about her preparing her pack was a lie, the game could be played both ways. "Don't answer that. That's an order, since I'm asserting my dominance." blame it on my add baby [/blockquote]

Flynn --
The light faded across the forest and the clouds rolled on top of each other in a restless fashion. It bothered him knowing that it was so close, and that so much thunder lay in wait. Already he could feel the tension starting to increase around them. In fact it surprisingly didn't feel like as much moisture as he would have thought. Still it probably would be best to head back soon, he knew Five was tense because she wanted to make sure that Kaell had gotten to safety.
He could admire her for that, not only the fact that she was an involved alpha, but also she seemed to bring back emotions he hadn't felt in a long time. Mostly irritation, rebellion, anger, though anger was the one he was working on. Still it was quite a feat to summon up any of these feelings in him. The first pack he had been in had erased them, the first to go were happiness, joy, and sorrow. The rest had followed suite and it was an improvement in his opinion, though now he was beginning to long for them again... Surprisingly. It was almost like something from his past was calling to him.
Five seemed to consider his words carefully. She seemed intrigued by what he had said with seeing his sister, though he had no idea what she could possibly be thinking. It did start to bother him a little again that he had used his sister to get out of this situation. Though if she were still around he was sure she would have agreed with him. The only way to settle the war was to join Kalani and stop the wolves and dogs from fighting. So actually when he had said that he would never hurt Kaell, he had meant it. It was the pack his mother had died in and fought for. So if he was ever in a position where he had to fight them he wasn't sure if he could bring himself to do it.
The alpha slammed down on the promise he had made. She must really rely on promises. It was another trait that he found he admired her for. Already he was learning so much about her in this one conversation. Though she seemed to be a complex individual underneath whatever she was playing at. He listened intently as she suddenly raged at his statement of asserting her dominance. It made him feel good that he had managed to get on her nerves, though he wasn't sure why he felt that way. Before he could answer her question she ordered him not to answer it. For the first time in a long time he felt something he had never thought to feel again. The urge to laugh. He smirked at her, “Yes ma'am. I wouldn't even attempt it ma'am. You think we should find shelter before the storm blows us away ma'am?” His tone didn't sound as venomous and had returned to it's stale state. Although there was a hint of humor in it. He was still seething with rage at her, he could feel it, but he didn't feel like raging would get to her any more then it already had.
