Generally, I like to advertise for new or revamped sites to bring in new members. It is the key to getting your site known and populated.
I don't want to be too picky, but I think it's kind of a hassle for advertisers to check the thread and try to find out if the thread is already there, and maybe even more so for staff since they have to edit and put it in alphabetical order. I don't think it's very efficient since guests/members wouldn't know that a opportunity for a good site came up, only to not find it in the mass of adverts.
I understand that you don't want the boards to be clogged up, or at least that's what I think. That or you don't want double posts, but you can always delete the thread or advertise on the site again.
If you don't want to boards clogged, maybe you can clear out the adverts when there's a certain number of pages or every three months or so.
I also recommend a lot of affiliating. That also seems to draw members in, too. Congrats if you read this far, too. I have a habit of rambling.

you're fine. rambling can be helpful ;3
I agree with you. when I was admin I attempted to clean out all of the old/outdated ads, but found that it was to difficult so I think that your suggestion would make it much easier.
ya affiliating would be muy helpful right now and now that the affies are all squeaky clean that gives us a good chance :3
kad'll have to talk over this though (since he has the power .O. ), but he says his internet has been acting weird lately so he hasn't been able to do much D=

Trust me, I've rambled much worse xD
I will admit I don't think I've been giving our advertising section as much attention as it deserves. I have spring break now so I think I'll start tackling it. Your suggestions sound good, perhaps you would like to PM me your ideas and we could talk more about them?
As for affiliating the same goes, I'll probably start doing this more. I'm getting better with coding so I should start getting the hang of affiliating and I should be able to do better with it. And since Miha/Darkseeker cleaned up the affiliates, (thank you once more), this should be easier as well.
Finally my internet has cooled down for the most part. I'm not sure why it was having trouble for a few days but it should be fine now so I think tomorrow I'll start working once more.

Well I don't see the problem with PMing, but that's pretty much all of my ideas for the advertising thing...
